WordPress comes will all of the essential features to be able to build a website and create content posts. The standard Block Editor in WordPress comes with several blocks in 6 different types; Text, Media, Design, Widgets, Theme, and Embeds.
Over several releases of WordPress, the number of blocks and the features they support have increased. There is enough to cover the basics and a bit more. For a simple website that doesn’t need anything fancy, you can get by with the basic blocks built within WordPress.
Want More Design in WordPress Block Editor
Eventually, you’ll find yourself needing something extra to achieve that cool look you found on another website. It may not even be something all that fancy. Perhaps you want a bit more flexibility on how a block looks without having to use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) or more technical trickery best left to a software developer.
One of the great things about WordPress is that there are so many plugins around that there is probably something available that can the feature or look you are after. So, you add a plugin that for example gives you more advanced buttons. Then you need a carousel to display a selection of photos and want fancier designs for the buttons, so more plugins are added to your website.
Nexter Blocks Adds Advanced Blocks to WordPress
This is where Nexter Blocks comes in. Originally called The Plus Addons for Gutenberg, Nexter Blocks Pro is a collection of over 90 blocks with a tonne of functionality and features. It introduces advanced design features into the Gutenberg Block Editor that were more common in page builders such as Elementor.
Nexter Blocks Pro comes as part of the Nexter Theme, although you can use the Nexter Blocks Pro with any theme using the Gutenberg editor.
The free edition comes with an impressive number of blocks, over 35 new choices when designing your web page. In addition to the 45 additional pro blocks gained with adding Nexter Blocks Pro, there are 15 freemium blocks – enhancements to free and core blocks in WordPress.
The blocks are separated into categories. Essential, Creative, Tabbed, Social, Advanced, Listing, Builder, and Extras.
Essential Blocks
Some of the blocks in the Essential Blocks category are the essential basics to elevate the design capabilities. It seems a little misleading because there are some of the blocks go beyond the essentials. I think some of the blocks are included in the essential category because they fit less in the other categories.
Creative Blocks
The Creative Blocks is where the fancier design features can be found. Most of these are Pro or Freemium blocks but there is the odd free creative block, such as Advanced Heading, Hover Card, and Pricing List.
Tabbed Blocks
The Tabbed Blocks gives capabilities to display or hide content based on the selected option or “tab”.
Social Blocks
The Social Blocks adds supportive functionality with social assets, such as displaying fees, reviews, and media from socials.
Advanced Blocks
The Advanced Blocks are specialised blocks adding supportive functionality with other assets or advanced display features.
Listing Blocks
The Listing Blocks present a group of items in a list, such as a list of posts or products.
Builder Blocks
The Builder Blocks help building template designs and other features.
Extras
The Extras features are not blocks, instead they enhance other blocks with extra features. The extra features generally work on Nexter blocks, however, the Display Rules feature works on all blocks.
Nexter Blocks Pro is included in our WordPress Website Packages, where we build and manage your website so you can concentrate on your business. If you want to be your own website professional, and build and manage your website yourself, you can purchase Nexter Blocks Pro yourself. If you use Elementor, you can use The Plus Addons for Elementor.
